Massage Therapy & Bodywork
*by appointment only
An Integrative Massage is our general table session that blends Western and Eastern forms of massage tailored to your unique needs. Generally, these sessions are conducted undressed to your level of comfort but can be done clothed as well.
Tell us what you need! Whether that be a deeply relaxing session or a more engaged and interactive approach to help manage pain and discomfort. (or a little of both!)
We may utilize a variety of techniques including:
Swedish Relaxation Massage
Trigger Point Release
Orthopedic Ligament Massage
PERINATAL MASSAGE (with miriam)
Prenatal and Postpartum Massage can help address common challenges of postural, hormonal, and identity change in the journey to motherhood.
Various techniques of traditional massage therapy will be used in combination with Ayurvedic Massage, and optional yoga and breathing techniques for the childbearing and raising years.
This session is for women looking for pain relief and emotional support via attentive, skilled and nurturing massage and relaxation techniques.
ONLY WITH MIRIAM
Thai Bodywork is great if you’re looking to deeply relax, reduce muscle tension, relieve stress, and experience gentle full-body stretches, with deeper pressure. This style of bodywork is conducted completely clothed on a large mat on the floor.
Our approach to Thai massage is a little unique in that it is inspired not only by traditional Thai Massage, but also by Restorative Yoga, anatomically informed Assisted Stretching also know as Active Isolated Stretching, Reflexology, Myofascial Release, and
Neuromuscular Energy Techniques.
Thai Massage with Miriam or Trevor incorporates the best of Ancient Thai Massage and modern Western Therapeutic techniques. Many clients report feeling energized and relaxed after Thai Massage. Sign up for Thai Massage to increase your energy and release pain and tension.
Medical Massage is aimed at restoring function and reducing pain after a catastrophic collision injury. These sessions consist of orthopedic technigues: scar tissue release, neuromuscular re-education, and myofascial release for conditions such as brain injury, spinal cord injury, multiple fractures, or neurological disorders. A prescription for massage is required from your doctor. You must call us first to book, to see if your insurance will cover your sessions.
These sessions begin with a detailed orthopedic injury assessment based on the work of Dr. Ben Benjamin and myofascial assessment techniques of the Tom Myers.
ASSISTED STRETCHING (with trevor)
Are your muscles extremely tight? Assisted Stretching or Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) is a powerfully precise stretching technique that increases the depth of your stretching practice with the help of skilled hands. AIS targets specific muscle groups, and parts of the muscle. It can increase the benefits of a regular massage or yoga practice and especially work on increasing range of motion and flexibility. This practice is best if you want more range of motion, or have stubborn muscle tightness. Fans of AIS include people who have a genetic disposition towards tight muscles, and tight bodies from sports, injury, or neurological conditions. (Such as Tenosynovitis, Neuropathy, Shoulder Impingement, or Multiple Sclerosis)

AVOID eating a large meal at least two hours before your appointment. You may need to bring a small snack, to avoid a drop in blood-sugar following your session.
WHAT TO WEAR
For a Table Massage, clients are welcome to undress to their level of comfort. You will be draped (with sheets) in a secure and professional manner throughout your whole session.
For Thai Massage, please bring loose, clean, comfortable clothing that does not restrict your movement. Long sleeve/pants that and an extra clean pair of socks is best.
DURING YOUR SESSION
Let your focus relax and allow the process of receiving to happen. Breathing deeply "into" any discomfort may help.
Relax your body and muscles. Unless your therapist verbally requests help.
Communicate. This can't be overstated. Feel free to report any discomfort, sensation, or concerns. Questions are welcome.
Choose silence or sharing. This is your time. Relaxation often occurs through silent unwinding, or through mindful sharing. Anything you share is strictly confidential, as upheld by the standard of licensed massage therapist professional ethics. We deeply value the ethics for a licensed massage therapist.
AFTER YOUR SESSION
A variety of self-care practices can help to integrate the changes to your body after your massage. Time permitting you can extend your session then or reschedule schedule for a Yoga Therapy session
Massage moves fluids out of your tissues, and into your urinary system. You may need to go to the bathroom after your session. To replenish all that fluid, and to keep waste moving out of your tissues...it's important to stay hydrated & warm.
FINAL NOTE: Chronic postural, medical or emotional issues are best addressed over time. Please do not put the expectation of "instant healing" on yourself or your therapist. For best results, we can work out a treatment plan for your specific goals.
"I'd say it takes at least 6 sessions to learn how to be a good massage client"
~Veteran Massage therapist
