Perinatal Massage

What is an Prenatal or Postpartum Massage?

Prenatal and Postpartum Massage can help address common challenges of postural, hormonal, and identity change in the journey to motherhood. Various techniques of traditional massage therapy will be used in combination with Ayurvedic Massage, and optional yoga and breathing techniques for the childbearing and raising years.

Prenatal Massage will utilize any of our techniques from a regular integrative massage for pain relief and nervous system/emotional support. Awareness of the stages of each trimester and pregnancy-related postural distortions is what sets this bodywork session apart from your regular massage session.

Postpartum Ayurvedic Massage is most often received during the first 6-8 weeks postpartum but can be enjoyed anytime in the first year especially, after having a baby. This technique is called "abhyanga", and is enjoyed as a whole body, undressed session with a heavy amount of nourishing oil such as sesame or a medicated postpartum Ayurvedic oil.

Miriam also offers private yoga coaching for women on the motherhood journey is specifically nourishes and tonify the female reproductive system and hormonal gifts of the gestational and postpartum period (hint: postpartum is forever!).
